Has anyone else noticed that the Steak & Shake logo is almost identical to the MINI logo??? It must be the place to eat for MINI owners...
I think I remember DaveFrehley posting a pic of this a few months ago. It was definitely a restaurant, but maybe a different one, not quite as classy and black-tie as Steak & Shake.

I believe they are a southern chain so out in SOCAL and the Balt area you probably don't get them.
They are a chain of burger joints, a lot actually have drive up spots where the food is brought out to you (much like sonic if you have those). The burgers are made from ground sirlion (thus the 'steak' in the name) and they make fresh made milk shakes in a variety of flavors. Very good burgers.
steak and shake rocks! one opened up a few months back a couple miles from my house...its great, the place is open 24 hours (drive thru and dine in). me and my friends always go by there for some late night snacks...my only problem with the place is that it is pretty expensive for a fast food place! its almost $6.50 for a combo meal (burger, drink, and fries)! but hey...its totally worth it...ITS DAMN GOOD!

If steak and Shake is anything like Sonic... Can anybody say ROADTRIP!!!!!
Steak and shake has been around a long time. The ones here in Missouri have been around over 50 years... definitely predates the MINI or the mini. My brother who is 14 years older than me took me to Steak and Shake all the time. It was where the cars went to be noticed. I remember him taking me in my parents brand new 63 Chevy Impala. Then in a 59 Volvo (now that was an embarrasing looking car), and then when he got his 68 special Edition 442 he finally had the right car for the Steak and Shake. They have very good fried burgers and chili. He used to track the 442 and he admitted when I told him at xmas that I had ordered a MINI Cooper S, that in the late 60s that the minis were so fast that he was amazed. He said that everybody new they were good in the corners, but he did not think they would be so fast on the straightaways. He said that they consistently put up the fastest times when he was there. He is a Corvette guy, and he admitted the old minis were toasting the corvette's on the track.
>>Mandy....where is there a Sonic??? I need this info!!!!
LMini Sonic is everywhere here in the midwest. Other than slushees and Cherry Limeades. In no other area do they compare to Steak and Shake. Steak and Shake Steakburgers are real hamburgers made the old fashioned way. They have this huge frying area and they take the steak burger and flatten it on the hot grill. You can sit at the counter and watch. They make them only after you order them. No heat lamps. It is not health food, but it is good food. Sonic is just another fast food burger place. Although they do car service like they do at the good Steak and Shakes. I am going to have a hard time eating in the MINI when it is all new and wonderful. So I like Steak and Shake there too because you can go inside and they serve the food on real china with real utensils. It is an old style diner. In Springfield, MO. they are still car places, especially on the weekend evenings. Lots of hotrods. Don't get me wrong my wife loves the diet cherry limeades. I personally, don't really like anything there, but they are no worse than McDonalds.
STEAK and SHAKE is the Best. Sonic is also good, but not because of the burgers. They HAVE the shakes and Ades. If you go, get Dr Pepper with a shot of Vanilla.
L.Mini, there are atleast 3 in VA. I think the closest one is about 1 1/2 hours away. I'll get you the info on exactly where. Orig when I wanted to go I looked on the internet and they said the closest one was 5 hours away. We decided to plan our vacation around going to VA just for Sonic. On our way we saw three others. You MUST go!! I'm not a shake person but their shakes are out of this world! In one weekend I got a Banana cream pie shake, a strawberry cheesecake shake (my fav!) and an Ocean water (love those too) Their food is good too but the shakes rule!
