Well tonight is my husband and mine's anniversary and he's a HUGE MINI fan so I have been trying to find this movie, "The Italian Job". It supposedly has a never ending multi mini chase scene in it. (old mini's not new MINI's). The movie is from 1969. Has anyone seen this movie? I have tried to rent it for him with no avail. Blockbuster's here in Dallas area don't carry it. I tried buying it on Amazon but it was 149.99! YIKES! I tried buying one on ebay but I think VCR's in the UK are different than here in Texas...I mean USA (joking  )

Then on Amazon there was a note that said that there would be a re-release of this movie on May 30 of this year. Has anyone heard of this? Will this be with old or new mini's?

Ciao,
mini-girl

If you are near a major university they probably carry it in the library there. If you know anyone who works are go to school there they could get it for you.

I saw it on Amazon, where I plan to buy a copy myself. You do know they are remaking The Italian job for 03 and of course it will feature MINIs. But it will be in LA. Should they rename it to LA Job?

The Italian Job is a classic!! It has some great British actors in it, such as Benny Hill, and Michael Caine, but the REAL stars are by far the MINIs... I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! I am eagerly awaiting its arrival on DVD. And I can't wait to see the remake...so far it looks great.

Cool, I will just try that then. They are cheap on ebay coming from the UK. If doesn't work then no big deal I will wait for the re-release in May.

I did look online and found what seems like a fun Euro race (www.italianjob.com) with the old mini's to raise money for children. It would be fun to do something like that in the states.

Have a great week,
Michella mini_girl

Please see the 1969 version first - it's actually shot in Italy and the title has something to do with the story ... the version coming out this year takes place in LA (waiting to see how they fit 'Italian'into that ...) and has a far more sinister, dark plot to it.
There are a couple of us that are willing to lend our copies to those that are in dire need of a Mini fix ...
... also try the old Mini stores: Mini City Ltd in NY state, Mini Mania in CA, to see if they still have stock.
