Okay Zappa and HighAnxiety, get us started here. Have you heard about the movie? How do you feel about the message? Is Michael Moore an idiot or a genius or just a guy who figured out how to make a living shooting controversial films?
 By the way... he's on oprah today to explain it all.
What, i don't get things going? He's half total idiot, half smart guy... but lately, he's been all total idiot... Anyone who's obsessed about the florida vote has issues... the time to fix things that you know are broken is BEFORE the event, not after..

Youchers! I'm being called out!
Well, honesty... I think this guy lives in Utopia.
I have seen some of his films and heard him on some programs... he is a major league socialist. He believes those with money should help out through higher taxes and such those less fortunate. I'm sorry, I'm not going to bust my ass to pay higher taxes and such so some lazy ass can do nothing and be funded by me!
I have severe disrespect for socialists and their practices... socialism is nothing but complainers wanting others paying their way.
If you want to destroy America, appoint a Socialist ruler.
What what... haven't got the point yet I don't like socialists??!! Here's a stereotype for you... I think socialists are the biggest bunch of whining lazy cry babies on the face of the earth and should all get the boot.
... there is a scene in the film wherein two School survivors go to the ammo manufacturer to try to return the bullets that are still lodged in their bodies!
Dang TMGRobyn... it's like you have ESP or something...
I used to work for the French actually!! I worked for Vivendi Universal as a Web Producer in charge of one of their divisions. They layed me off just over a year ago! But I can't complain too much... took severence checks from them for a whole year!
French policies stink... French people at Vivendi I had much respect for though... no BS, hard hitting, went after what they wanted.
His socalist ideals really bug me too... I had a "TAX THE RICH" sign in my car... back when I was 19... (man, what a different look on life you get once you're out of your teens... but that was around the time i was moving from the left to the right...(it's just a jump to the left/and then a step to the right))... I'm sorry... if you work, why don't you deserve stuff?? If you work higher up in the food chain, why don't you deserve MORE stuff?
Moore can best be described by this scene... i can't remember the name of the movie, but it was the one that took place during one of his book tours... he stopped off at a PayDay plant (the candybar), and was really miffed that Leaf (a Canadian company) was closing down the plant (the only one in the states)... well, according to the plant manager (who was also going to be out a job, but let's not focus on managment...), an a quote that was used to totally twist it's meaning, they were closing because they were too productive. Could the plant be closing because people just are not eating as much PayDays anymore?
Or I also love the leftwing shock and outrage that large companies (ie Nike) pay people in third world countries low wages... First off, is the wage really low for that part of the world. And second, what is your argument? That Nike should be employing people in Asia at USA labor rates? Or that Nike should be employing people in USA at USA rates? And if your arguemnt is the former, that opens up a whole new can of worms... if you're against world poverty, don't people all around the world deserve jobs? And if you want to bring this around full circle, I rember (not directly mind you, accounts of) a time in the history of our very country when we had horrible labor pratices.. and you know what? We did something about it...
It comes down to this... I have seen a couple of his films, and yes they were entertaining... but did I agree with his views in them? NO.
It's obvious this film is about gun control. If this socialist had his way.... I wouldn't be allowed to have guns, I couldn't drive what I want to drive, I would pay HIGHER taxes, and I would be supporting some loser man who likes to crank out kids which he won't pay child support for and get drunk leaving me to pay for his kids and his beer. No thanks!
I'm already paying way too damn much taxes... well over 35% of my paycheck is sucked out already to pay crap taxes like welfare bums, drunks, men who crank out children they can't/won't support, debters, druggies, alcoholics, and generally lazy people. I'm glad my taxes go to good causes... this dingbat probably wants his cut too so he can make another film griping about something else with my money.
On the local movie radio show, there were a few intresting points brought up about this movie... A: Does Moore feel good about himself getting on someone's case who has altzhimers? and B: (granted, I don't know the facts about this statement, but i'll relay it w/this disclamer) If Canada allows guns, how come there isn't as much gun violence there, if guns are the main and only root of the problem?
And as someone was wondering befire, it's called Bowling for Columbine, because although the 'evil' music was once stated to be the catalyst behind the Columbine shootings, the two lads went bowling soon before the shootings, so why not blame bowling?
Any movie that has the tagline "Are We Gun Nuts, Or Just Plain Nuts?", well... that sould sum up the tone of the movie right there...
Interestingly, there's a student group trying to change the ban on guns at the northern Virginia law school where there was a mass shooting earlier this year. The shooting was actually stopped by students having to run to their cars, and get their guns. Of course, the media didn't cover this fact (that students with guns stopped this guy from shooting more people).
Think of that theatre in Moscow. Would the Chechens have gone in there, if they knew that the people inside would be armed? No.
I have not seen Michael Moore's last 3 films I think so I cannot offer my opinion of his current work.
But based on what I have seen of his work, I think he is awesome. I don't always agree with him, but his movies and TV shows were entertaining and fun and educational. The sort of guerilla tactics he uses to get at corporate execs of auto companies and big tobacco is just amazing (unless you're the corporate exec)
