My wife left at 5:00AM to go shopping. I think I need to admit her to the
Nervous Hospital.
I left my house at 2:30a, hit up JC Penny and Best Buy thus far, BB took much longer then I expcected though. So I had to drop Circuit City and Staples from my run unfortunately. Home for a break until I leave to meet up with my sister for Target, Toys R Us, Best Buy (again), and 'Mall'.
I bought a 50" Plasma HDTV at 6:15 this morning. Got a nice deal, too... $450 less than the price at Best Buy.
Didn't have to fight a mad crowd, either... bought it at LCDTVS.COM.
Anyone that is crazy enough to go shopping today, deserves what they get (along with sale prices... elbowed, shoved, cussed at... anything short of being trampled).
My shopping MO: Find the thing I like in a store and then find the best price and buy it online.
The Gap and another store here in California opened at midnight! I am steering clear away from all shopping malls and stores today,or I will have to go to the "Nervous Breakdown Hospital"

I toyed with the idea of going down to Kohls department store at 4 in the morning just to take a photo of people who would wake up to go shopping at that time.

I need to return a DVD burner to Best Buy sometime in the next few days, and I'm dreading it. I'm hoping that I can shoulder my way from the front door to the "returns" counter without having to fight the worst of the crowds.

yeah, who in their right mind....oh well, takes all kinds, I guess.
After 17 years in retail, I stay home on Black Friday. In fact, I avoid all stores from mid-November til the end of January.
It does take all kinds. I mean, really now. . . who in their right mind would put so much of their time, money, and energy dolling up a silly little econo-box car?

Amen, brother!
I think I set some sort of world record last week for an IKEA mega-store. I was stopping to pick up some rugs that my wife had spied on an earlier visit. From the entrance, to the back corner of the store, to check out (no line, thankfully), and exit in 4 min and 45 seconds.
I'm the same way with clothes. Find it, like it, buy it. My time is a lot more valuable than the few bucks I'd save shopping around for the "ideal" item. I'm always amazed by the folks who crow about how much they've saved because they got 50% off on a bunch of crap they wouldn't have bought at the start of the day anyway. And this time of year, in any shopping venue, my mind is speaking a single theme: Get me out of here!!! :impatient

Average person will walk five miles and spend 90 minutes standing in line to buy Christmas presents. The smug and obnoxious "I shopped online and did it all in eight minutes" comments may be posted to the right
Our local news channel last night showed folks lined up at the Best Buy. The first few people had a portable tent, blow up couch and two blow up chairs to boot. I think some people do this just for the door party.
Just came home from running down the road to get the son's hair cut. No one there. The Target store behind this area was slammed and it didn't look like there was any parking left. I'm so glad I'm not into the shopping thing.
I just did my shopping. Bought a bottle of bar and chain oil for my chainsaw at the local neighborhood independent non-franchised hardware store. I parked right outside the door, was helped by friendly staff, and was on my way in minutes.

My man is out in the garage w/ his new Craftsman 3 gallon air compressor, which, apparently was a "smokin deal" at the Sears 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. sale!
Gotta have an air compressor! Right.
Well, an air compressor is one of those things where you don't realize how useful they are until you actually own one.
And at least he only got a 3-gallon model. He could have found a "smokin' deal" on an 80-gallon, two-stage 240-volt upright model!
i love the way i get to shop, i ask my nieces and nephews what they want then send the money to my mom and have her do it...lol whats a grandma for right

So I was not the only one who went to a tiny hardware store in the middle of nowhere on Friday because of necessity.
Gotta say though, there was a couple more people than usual in the store, what with the bargain hunters and all.
Otherwise, you would not get me near a mall or big-box store on that weekend. The collective intelligence of a typical shopping center is already bad enough without the added burden of guerilla-style shopping techniques and bargain-addled brains. Professional wrestling is more organized and less violent. A friend of mine came out to find the side of her van caved in from a hit-and-run driver in the parking lot. Nope, not gonna do it, wouldnt be prudent. The unbelievable bargains were snapped up at 4am, and there is usually not many in the stores to begin with. The rest of the reasonable deals are going on all this week around here.
