Yet many people loathe (despise, hate...etc) them. I think that they add character to a lawn, along with clovers and other growing inhabitants. I think that people are way too over-obsessive with having perfect grass-only lawns. Remember, it's only a weed if you decide it to be.

LOL...our philosophy is...if it's green and growing in the yard, leave it be. Once it's mown, it all looks nice . I do pull dandelions out of the cultivated beds tho'.
We also live about 40 feet from a Chesapeake Bay storm drain. These are particularly marked so ya don't throw garbage, junk...or chemicals....down them. They drain directly in to the Bay. Somehow, I don't think that ChemLawn-ing my property should be a priority.
On a brighter note, have you ever eaten dandelion greens? Great in a salad, if you get the very young and tender leaves. Peppery, kinda earthy flavor.
