I did live in New London, CT which, to a non-native New Englander (as I was) is exceedingly close. I believe native Nutmeggers, however, required an overnight stop between N.L and Westerley.
I also lived in Mystic for a semester in undergrad (Williams-Mystic program) and worked in Mystic but lived in Groton for a summer. This is probably the exact opposite of relevent (or even interesting) for you, but I miss SE New England. Quite desperately.
I liked Providence, but never spent enough time there. Westerley, I loved.
