Dumb, Dumb, Dumb! WTF is wrong with some people?

This morning some idiot in a Honda Civic on southbound I-280 in San Jose, was racing through rush hour traffic at speeds over 100 mph. He eventually hit two other cars.

The resulting accident has left the people in the two cars they hit with major injuries... the Honda burned, so did the driver. All but the right SB lane is closed, and the left NB lane is closed.

PEOPLE! Nothing is so important to need to drive like that!

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

Whenever I see something like this I feel certain that somebody, somewhere is going eventually to get hurt. I'm sure they're trying to be cool but...like so many w/ similar motives...are really acting like morons. Pity.

Thats bad, Ive never understood people's mentality when it comes to going that fast in traffic. I admit to a lead foot on occasion but in traffic I just sit back and relax, I dont care about my boss being mad at me THAT much Dying on the road is such a waste.

I was in Oahu driving back home at 10pm on the 50 mph freeway there when I see in my rearview mirror a ricer car coming up behind me at around 100 mph. He barely missed me as he cut off to the left at the last second. (3 lanes) My wife and 3 year old were in the car at the time and I was really angry, mumbling "SOB could have killed us!!, etc".. my wife was tying to calm me down.... about 3 minutes later we see a truck jacknifed into the center of the divide, the guy out of his truck really angry, looking at the damage.. then we see smoke ahead and I am in the right lane by now and see the car that barely missed me smashed into the center divide. We call the police, report it and drive on since I can't stop and get to the left side of the freeway. The next morning I read in the Hololulu Advertiser 2 kids, 17 years old, both instant fatalities. sad

I'm guessing "ricer" treatment.

That's why I hate to see so many new drivers getting MCSs - too much temptation to put into the hands of some young and inexperienced drivers. I like their first car to be some underpowered, mundane sedan.

I somehow cannot feel bad about this. In so many cases, the maniac usually leaves a trail of destruction and injury and gets away clean. The only bad here is that it's tough to get compensation from an ashtray.

I'm with Greatbear. . .hard to feel sorry for someone who met the fiery end they were asking for.

I only hope that others harmed will recover fully.

I mostly feel that way too, except when it's teenagers driving. I think they really have that self-absorbed, indestructible mentality. It's no excuse for bad behavior (given that MOST teens DO NOT drive like that), but it IS sad to me that they won't even get the opportunity to grow out of it. Like rhawth99, I'd rather see young, inexperienced drivers in cars that aren't even capable of such speeds or tempting to push to the limit. I inherited a crappy Ford Tempo when I was 16. It was a great first car. Not fast, and not tempting.

Yep, its his own fault, better to get him off the roads now than in 10 years when he takes someone with him or we end up having to pay for his ass for 25 years-life because hes in jail.

Just hate people that waste my time and/or money. If you don't do those two things I've got to problems with you. Its not that I like controversy, I just don't hold back. If I think something i'm most likely going to say it and its not going to be said in the nices way. If you have a problem with that well sorry.

Wow, and I thought I was an insensitive a$$...

Jeez, sorry to hear that someone must die when they inconvenience you. Please don't ever let me go too slow in front of you at the Dragon.

Let's not take this to the personal level, which is close to violating Site Guidelines. His comments speak for themselves, and no name-calling is required. Let's take a deep breath, everyone, and stay on-topic, please.

Slow is fine and stuff happens, inconveniencing me isn't the problem but when someone is driving like an idot and does something stupid that has a dirrect offect on me, Well it pisses me off. He got what was coming to him. Heres the way I feel just about 100% of the time. Do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt or effect anyone else in a negtive way.

No, its fine don't give him a violation, hes just saying how he feels and I might disagree with it but I want him to be able to say it.
