Today is Memorial Day, when we remember and honor those in the military services who have died in the service of our country. As a veteran I always feel a little uncomfortable when veterans are included in today's remembrances. We have our day in November, but today is special, very special. Today is about those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and their families. Mothers who no longer have a son or daughter to hug, Fathers who remember baby's first steps, and the last steps to the gravesite. Who have only a folded flag to hold where once was flesh and blood. Widows who have lost their life's companion, their reason for living. Children who will never play ball with their dad again, or have him walk them down the aisle, or have their mother share a birthday card and cry when they get their diploma. Yes, today is a special day, not about parades or sales or the start of summer. It is about what freedom costs and the tremendous debt we owe to these men and women who gave everything, everything for our country.
It's not to do with anything but our honored military dead.
