This is some crazy news footage of a police pursuit. It shows the handling characteristics of an SUV. Person tries to pass on the shoulder, hits car and gets ejected.

I found it really interesting to see what the other people were doing to respond to the crash. Watch it again, but instead of looking at the SUV, look at the oncoming traffic cars. One has real quick reflexes and gets right outta the path of danger, but it looks like a guy way back there almost doesn't make it over in time... (then the video stops)

I haven't watched this one, but from the description I believe it's one I've seen before. Stolen SUV driver receives the Darwin award. I feel sorry for the poor soul that ran him over, but not for the felon.
This is why people shouldn't own a big SUV. Let's think about if it had been a Mini at each step. It wouldn't have been so easy to steal in the first place so this never would have happened. It would have fit between the other car and the guard rail so the impact never would have happened. It would have stayed stable after the hit and would not have gone veering off across the freeway. It would not have rolled if it was veering in such a wide arch. And to think that people buy SUV's because they "feel" safer.

Not all people buy SUV's because they feel safer. Some people buy it for necessity, let's give human beings some credit..

I give people who buy sensible vehicles lots of credit. Feeling safer is the most common reason people give for buying a big SUV. What necessity would a big SUV fill that isn't met by some more safe vehicle like a Mini Van? Many people may not know how unsafe these big SUV's really are.
