A replacement for me Mini?

Well, I've decided to go with a new car as my MCSCa approaches 5 years old. I've narrowed it down to three choices.

1. A new MCSCa
2. Audi A5/S5 cabrio
3. Lexus IS C

Anybody have thoughts on these vehicles

TIA,
Tony

I'd go for the Audi, but keep it a hardtop.

Since you're a convertible fan, what about waiting for the speedster to come out?

For me...

the A5 didn't do it, and the S5 was quite the hoot! But it's more for sure.

2 are similar in my mind but the Mini is different for sure. Liked the Lexus when I dorve it last night but my mind kept saying - 'but's it's not the MINI'. I had a hard time laughing when the salesman asked me to notice how sharp and crisp the steering response. It was nice for a car but I've been driving a go-kart dude! lol

yah, you're not going to get sharp or crisp from a toyota, i dont think.

and hard to 'replace' the MINI... ive yet to find a replacement for my R53. lotsie and i were joking maybe a 49cc scooter might do it as far as fun.

Driving a MINI certainly spoils you as a driver. There's no way any other car can come close to the handling characteristics of a MINI even at twice the price.

Well, I ended up with the IS C. I feel slightly sad and a little guilty not getting a new MINI. It's been fun but I had hoped it would hold up a little better than it has. I also like change.

And this will let me get a classic in the future some time maybe ;)

congrats, cadfael! let's see some picts when delivered.

yah, i know wat you mean, i bought something different too...but i think only a 49cc scooter can replace the fun-ness of a MINI.

(im actually secretly saving up... my wife doesn't want me getting one...)

I replaced my mini with a Volkswagen Gti. Maybe you should put the VW EOS on the list. Its a fun Vert. But if you want a car that handles well and has a soft top, go with the new MCSCa. The Lexus vert looks unnatural to me. But if you want a car that is a complete Beast go with the S5 vert. Or even better how about the bmw 335i vert. Complete package IMO.

Nice car - congrats.

If the G convertible had be around when I bought the MINI - high odds I would have gone that direction. But now they'll be burying me in my MINI someday. I ain't selling it.

Glad you didnt get the audi.
What a maintanece nightmare.

I doubt they have one single repeat customer and that goes
double for VW.
double u, get it, ha ha.

BTW, you are not a turncoat if you didnt buy the thing in your 20s
and keep it your whole life.

If its just a normal car to you switching from mini to lexus - no big deal.

I am sure it worked out. CONGRATS

lol this thread is pretty old. -1 for the comment on VW. I have a GTI and its just as problematic as my Mini was. But, if I was going to drop the money for the Audi I would rather go with a BMW.

If you can hold out for another year or so, there'll be some other interesting cars on the scene -- the Abarth and Mito.
