The Mount Shasta – Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts April Mountain Run
April 4, 2009
If you are ready to try some great “mountain twisties” after these winter months, come join us for a Mini adventure on Highway 3 along the shores of Trinity Lake and climb the best roads up Scott Mountain. At this time of year the mountains will be capped with snow and there will be several gushing waterfalls.
Our 259-mile run will begin at J’s Market in downtown historic “Old Shasta” on 299 just west of Redding. We will follow 299 west past Whiskeytown Lake and over Buckhorn Summit, joining others in Lewiston. Then we will have a short break at the Trinity Dam lookout for photos and a “potty break”.
From there we will cruise on the smooth. “roller-coaster” like roads along the Trinity Lake, under the snow capped towering Trinity Alps.
Enjoy a lunch stop at the Alpen Cellars Winery, established on a family ranch in the spring of 1984, is nestled in a picturesque mountain valley at the foot of towering craggy peaks in the rugged Trinity Lake region of Trinity County, California. www.alpencellars.com
We will continue on SR-3 up Scott Mountain to Fort Jones before returning back to Lewiston for an early dinner at 4PM.
Weather is forecast to be sunny and mild. It will be a picnic lunch at Alpen Cellars Winery, so bring your picnic basket, folding chair, and a cooler and dine with us along the shores of Trinity Lake and under the towering snow capped Trinity Alps.
Clutches out at 9:00AM at J's Market in Old Shasta on 299 west.
ALL MINI/Minis are welcome!
Have your FRS/GMRS radios (charged) and set for channel 7, sub channel 21, cell phone, copy of the route map, extra bottled water, dramamine for those that need it, a full tank of gas, empty bladder, picnic basket and be ready for a fun Mini drive in the mountains.
