Lets NOT MOTOR Day - brought to you by NAM and MINI!
MINI USA Announces LET’S NOT MOTOR DAY | Friday, June 5
In honor of World Environment Day on Friday, June 5th, MINI USA is celebrating with Let’s Not Motor Day – a day to leave your car in the garage, organize a walkpool and take the pedal off the metal. Shift your mindset instead of gears and join MINI in pledging the miles you aren’t going to motor. To learn more and pledge miles, go to www.LetsNotMotorDay.com. And let’s see just how far not driving a single mile can really take us.
Sorry, I can't bicycle 60 miles to the doctor appointment. However, I should be able to avoid motoring until 1700 Z, which will put me in solidarity with the work day of our European MINI brethren and sistren
yeah.. no issue here, I think it's very cool.. I mean most people who have mini's are sooo fired up to do the Motor on! thing.. won't hurt to park it for the day

For me, riding my bike to work and back home (40 miles roundtrip) will be an opportunity to get some exercise and when back in my mini I will appreciate it that much more.
We are a country where people drive to the gym to work out and complain about the cost of gas....
Oh yeah....you're absolutely right. This isn't going to work for everybody...it is more symbolic in nature than anything else. With all that given, in the big picture of things, I think it is a harmless....and for some maybe even beneficial....thing for MINI to participate in.
Spoke only for myself. Many will benefit; bike riders and walkers and every participant will have the thrill of looking forward to resume motoring the very next day.

Thanks for reminding me. Think I'll take the long way to get to the drive-in tonight. Maybe I'll run my engine the whole 2 hours too. Better chance that the tooth fairy will make an appearance tonight than this silly promotion acccomplishing anything.

Well, I added in my miles saved for today, but I stopped driving to work 10 years ago in favor of riding the commuter rail. I do enjoy not having to fight traffic...around here you can hardly call that motoring. I prefer to save time in my MINI for the times I can actually enjoy it.
For those of us who keep track of MINI's more frugal capabilities, this has been quirky fun...nothing more. Still.....appreciated.
