I don't want to double post, but I am desperate to get back on one of my favorite MINI sites. Put this in OT:
I need some help. Any knowledgeable folks out there about DNS Servers, etc....
I ask because I have been locked out of one of my favorite MINI sites: http://nemini.org/
for about a week, or 2 now - seems like a month or 2.
I have had some help, but to no avail. First, he had me ping nemini, ok, then did a DNS lookup : good. Then, flushed the DNS Resolver Cache - ok. Then, switched to another DNS server IP - didn't work.
Conclusion: possible router problem, possible DNS server problem on the host for nemini side, which I can't contact the webmaster, who's in Australia.
WTF? I'm now totally lost and baffled.
I can help, only because you are one of my favorite people and nemini.org is the place to go...
seems as though nemini.org is content-filtered/blocked by BMW Darien's content filtering equipment... see your IT guy to take the block off of nemini.org...

Is anyone else having problems with NEMINI.org again. I have not been able to get on for two days now from many different computers and locations.
I does not seem to be blocking but an error in the server.
I really need to get back on the site ot get directions for a meet and get in contact with the host of the meet about a few things
anyone have any ideas

I'm having the same problem, Schatzy, and I'm going to a meet in New Britain on Sunday (same as you?). I don't remember the name of the diner or anything! I hope we're back in business before then - as you can see, this is not the first time this has happened.

I noticed that all the websites from NEMINIS IP(204.124.180.34) are down... so I'm thinking it's the web hosting DNS server.
Yes if you have a Facebook account go to NEMINI.org: Spare Tire for any news or updates.

Hmmm...what-da ya say we send a thank-you note over to the cleaning lady at "Go-Daddy" who put the server power plug back into the wall outlet???
Ed
We need the cleaning lady again! 3 out of the 5 websites hosted on that IP are working ... Whats up with that? GO Daddy is our Hosting service at minis-on-the-edge but we have been up so we are apparently not on the same server.....

I know its frustrating...I maintain 3 domains on one server, and I can tell you that the servers don't normally go down due to improper administration of the server. Many times the issues are associated with power outages (local or widespread), improper information uploaded to the DNS and sometimes what are called "Denial of Service" attacks from outside sources (many times off-shore). Every once in awhile an administrator will attempt to make a change to improve his administration of the server or add new features for the users and the old "snowball" effect can take over and the change bites you in the butt due to some interaction with a configuration parameter that hasn't been taken into account. Whenever an administrator decides to make a change to an up and running server, they USUALLY will incorporate the change into an identical account that you and I don't have access to and the new changes are checked out there first before being switched over to the "production" acct that we all access. This is why MOST administrative changes are usually not the root cause of the server going down...key word..."usually"!
Anyway, I share in your frustration and like so many others, I await the arrival of the cleaning lady....
