Navigation & Audio USB Dropout

USB Dropout
Anybody ever heard of this happening?
When I hook up my phone (Sony Xperia XA) via USB, I can play music fine for about 10 or 15 minutes, and then the playback just stops. No error is reported, the progress bar on the current song stops progressing, and the only way I can get the USB playback going again is to unplug and replug the cable.
The phone thinks it's still connected and it's still charging properly.
I can plug a thumbdrive into the car USB port and play music all day from it, no problem.
(It's the basic audio system BTW)
Worth a warranty service call?
