Can your radio display play movies?

Just wondered if anyone knows if there is a way to play movies on the display of the F56? I read somewhere you could with either the r56 or r53 if you had the screen for Nav. I have the XL screen with Nav/traffic on my Mini now. But you can't say play a video from your iphone on the screen. But it does show video if using a go pro through the Mini connected app.

So, the logical question to this question seems to be: You'll be entertained with the latest from Hollywood instead of the motorized family of four filling your windshield with zero degrees relative bearing drift and a rapidly closing range rate?

I had the same thoughts as Fly'n Brick.

It is not possible to play video from your iDevice to the car, however, if you do have the XL, it can play most video files from a USB drive plugged into the USB port.

The R56 with Connected could technically do video out from an iPhone/iPod using Apple's PlugIn feature as it output analog video through the AUX port. Unfortunately, when Apple changed from the 30-pin connector to the Lightning connector, they killed that feature off (since the 30-pin had the analog video connections and the Lightning couldn't) and MINI stopped supporting it also.

In both cases, the video would only play while parked.

Being a Gen 1 in-cabin entertainment Luddite, that is good to know.

It was possible in Gen 1 with a video adapter, and the in-motion block was easily defeated (it merely detected if the parking brake was engaged).

Then the end result of that has to be empty pizza boxes and popcorn all over the floor mats and jujubes stuck to the seats?
