USB Drive playlists

Is there a way to set up playlists on a USB drive? I haven't been able to this far. I tried making s folder structure but doesn't work. Is it because the playlist function only works with phone/iPod?

That's what I was afraid would be the case. I like keeping it clean looking without wires that a thumb drive offers. I guess either live without playlist function or have a cable to a device hanging about. No big deal but would be nice.

I use a
USB thumbdrive USB thumbdrive
with playlist on mine. Works great on my 2013 with nav and is practically invisible. I can browse directly and use playlists no problem using the console controls.

True, but he didn't specify what he had and it might be useful info for someone else. I just happened to come across it when I was messing around and if it keeps me from having ugly cables and an ipod to fiddle with all the better.

I will grab the drive tonight when I get home and post a sample of a playlist and the folder structure I use. It took some experimentation to get the syntax correct but once that is sorted it worked great.

Sorry for the delay.

Attached is a sample playlist which should be renamed Alice.wpl
The folder structure.

Artist1
> Album1
>> Song1
>> Song2
>> Etc
> Album2
>> Song1
>> Song2
>> Etc
Artist2
> Album1
>> Song1
>> Song2
>> Etc
> Album2
>> Song1
>> Song2
>> Etc

The playlists are stored in a folder named 'My Playlists' but this shoudn't be a requirement.

Attached Files
File Type: txt
Alice.txt (1.8 KB, 72 views)
