Aftermarket HU question with Aux In

Hello everyone,

I currently have the Alpine CDA-9886 in my 2003 MCS hooked up to my 5th generation iPod (80 GB) using the KCE-422i. I also have the USB output activated so I can put a USB memory unit and play back directly through the HU. I’d like to activate the Aux In function from the HU so that I can hook up my iPhone 4 through the Aux input and control it through my phone. I have heard that I cannot hook up the D.Aux function if the KCE-422i is activated. Is this true? Also, would I be able to a line out at the bottom of my iPhone 4 for better sound quality? If I do, will I not be able to hook up my old 5th generation iPod to the line-out device? What parts and equipment will I need to achieve these goals:

-Use line out device to hook iPhone 4 up to Alpine CDA-9886 HU
-Also be able to still use iPod 5th generation whether through KCE-422i or through newly installed Aux input

Here’s the user manual for the CDA-9886:

Thanks in advance,

Jordan
