Subwoofers In The B Pillars (R53)?

Has anyone tried to put subs in the B Pillars of a 2005 Cooper S Hatch (R53)? I would imagine, with a bit of work, an 8" could fit on each side, leaving more space in the boot....

lots of room if you are handy with fiberglass. I'm toying with the idea of getting a true 6.5" subwoofer. Should be easy enough to make work, just not sure about the need.
