Aux splicing help needed
I am trying to add the OEM Aux input into my R53 but the wiring is cut on the deck side and I do not have the plug side to the deck. I have the after market Aux cord that is missing the nut that secures it to the dash plate and I can't find one anywhere. It drives me nuts to have the Aux cord dangling. I want to splice the OEM box to the after market cable. The box has 2 wires and the cable has 3. Does anyone know if it's possible to splice the 2 together? Or does anyone have the OEM box and complete cable they want to sell?

This is the OEM aux cable, which is just a cable with no "box": http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2006-C...nput/ES194874/
BTW, nuts come in standardized sizes and threads. Where did you look?

I bought the Aux cord that is showing in your link off the MarketPlace and all it came with was the cord that included the connector that plugs into the back of the deck. It works fine but it just hangs in the car because I cannot find the thin nut holds it to the mounting plate. It drives me nuts. I do not want to use a standard thickness nut, that will bother me too.
I bought the OEM Aux "box" off of the MarketPlace also and it came with just the box you see in my photo and the wire that plugs into the back of the box. The wire was cut from the wire loom and is missing the part that plugs into the back of the deck.
I would like to either splice the two together so I have the look that it was ordered on the car new or I might drill the OEM box face to fit the other cord onto it if I can find the thin nut to mount it.
What I really want is the OEM box wired the way it should be. I want the factory look (I know, it's hidden in the glovebox).
I hope that clears it up a little.

So this is all about a missing nut?
You can do one of these:
You can do one of these:
- Find the diameter and thread of the nut you need. Take the OEM cable to a hardware store, and they should have a fitting panel that has threaded holes cut in various sizes and threads. After you determine the spec, start shopping and you should find lots of sources.
- Cut off the jack and solder the wires to a new jack that comes with a nut. Actually, it may come with a nut that fits the OEM (these types of parts are pretty much standardized).
