Speaker adapters?

I've got a 2002 MINI and I'm needing new speakers. I called some places and said I need a adapter to make a 6 1/2 fit in my door. Any ideas on this or can buy speakers and install them without the adapters?

There are places that sell adapters but I found I had to modify them to fit the speakers I was using. I don't have the exact size of speaker I used or what adapters I bought (it's in the car, which is out right now) but if it's the front speakers you are talking about and they are shot, my advice is to cut out the cone and magnet and use the frame of the current speaker to mount the new ones. You'll probably do a lot less cutting than I had to do with the adapters I used and the speakers will probably fit better too. Just make sure the new speakers fit lower or equal to the level of the frame and the door panel will go back on with no problems.

Buy from Crutchfields. They provide the wire adapters and mounting adapters at no cost.
