Mini Connected with Andriod (anyone get it to work?)
So, hope it's ok to create a new thread...seemed all the other connected threads were about iOS.
Recently bought a Mini (2014 JCW Roadster) and have been trying to get connected to work with my Galaxy S4 running 4.4.2. The app loads up just fine, the USB delivers power, but the car never sees the phone. I know iOS uses the Y-cable that came with the car, but I don't believe that's the case with Android (the app just says to connect with the USB).
Was wondering if anyone got theirs to work, and how they did it? Hoping for an almost step-by-step process to see if I'm missing anything.

Not true. I have a 2013 Cooper S and it works seamlessly. The trick is to get an iPod (mine is a gen 4 iPod), then set up your Android Galaxy as a hot spot. I think it's even nicer than directly using an iPhone because there is no constant plugging-in/unplugging to do; the iPod is a permanent fixture in the car that automatically connects when the Android is near it.

Any smartphone with tethering can do that (Apple, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry). You're misunderstanding the terminology. That isn't Android support. There is an Android MINI Connected app, but it cannot communicate with a 2013 Cooper S.

The question the poster asked is not whether Connected supports Android, but rather how to get Connected to WORK with Android. That is what I answered. I do not disagree that MINI does not support Android, but that was not the question being asked.

He is trying to get the Android app on a Galaxy S4 to work DIRECTLY with the car. Have you gotten that to work and if so how?

The OP is running the Android MINI Connected app on his phone and wants it to communicate with his car. The answer is that it won't work on a 2013 MINI.

Not for MINI Connected, which only started supporting Android in 3rd generation models (2014 F56). But seriously, you aren't missing anything. Just look at the MINI Connected app ratings on both iTunes App Store and Android Play Store.
