HELP! iPhone 3GS suddenly won't play '10 MC

I'm aware that my iPhone 3GS won't charge on my 2010 MC hardtop, but as of this morning I cannot get music to play through my USB/aux cable. The strange thing is, I can see all my music through the speedometer interface, the iPhone recognizes that it is in fact connected to the car but when I click a song to play no music is produced. I did do the latest iPhone update (fixes the service bars) but I don't see why this would affect the iPhone to where it would not play music. Please help or at least point me in the right direction if you can, listening to the radio is unbearable!

Thank you!

I'm having the same problem on my 3G! IT started with the Smartphone prep in the armrest not recognizing the iPod function of the phone, and now the Y-cable connection doesn't recognize it either EXCEPT SOMTIMES ! Yesterday I made a phone call in the car, then tried the iPod function and IT WORKED! Of course this morning it was back to not finding the music on the phone....

I think it must be related to upgrading the iPhone to V 4.xxxx

I'm considering back-grading my iPhone to v 3.xxxx to see if that fixes the problem.

Had this problem too after the iOS 4.0 upgrade. Hard restart of the iPhone fixed it though.

The question here is "Do you have the Smart Phone Option"?

There are two types of Armrest and cradle options.

1. Arm Rest that can take a cradle and charge the phone.

2. Arm rest with Smart Phone, can charge phone and allows for playback of music thru the USB port. This also requires a different cradle than the option #1 does.

If you do not have the 2nd option or do not have the correct cradle then it will not work.

Luna has the SmartPhone connection/craddle. Everything was cool a week or so ago. The only thing that has changed has an iphone / itunes software version.

That is a problem then but I must say Apple seems to do this all the time where they change something and break what used to work form many people.

My only suggestion is to move back a revision.

AND, make sure something isn't plugged into the USB under the dash. (even the cable) That one will take priorty over the smartphone in the armrest rendering it mute...

I had the same problem with my brand new MCS. I could use my 3G iPhone through the audio system, but the car couldn't see the iPod. But, thanks to Flagg's suggestion, I tried a "Hard Restart" and now everything's good.

Thanks very much. I am grateful for the resource this forum provides.
