Dealer iPOD and GPS

Anyone have details on the integrated ipod connection and GPS offered by MINI? They dealership doesn't have too much info, and most of the info I find online are for custom installs of this equipment. For ipod I am curious if it fits and charges iPhones. For GPS, i just would like to see some opinions on how robust the system is.

Factory GPS is ok if you have the factory GPS system. If you are talking about buying the add on Mini / Garmin unit it is a waste of money. For less cash you can buy a great even better Garmin unit mount it and use the same satilites that our milatary uses.

*Note* Look at all the highend double din Navi units that Crutchfield sells like the almost 2 Grand Kenwood Excelon...they use Navi power by Garmin.

Before people freak out Yes, I know its a double din I am just trying to show that some of the best HU manf. use Garmin. Why reinvent the wheel if someone has made a perfect one already.

Well this would be one that they sell with the car. I have that currently and love it (having the built in GPS Screen), im just hoping it is a bit more feature rich. The garmin mount units surpass my current MINI 04 GPS, but none are as convenient.

I agree the built into the speedo GPS units are good. I looked at them when I was getting my car but decided to get LSD instead.

Plus I like the "Big Ben" Speedo in the middle of the car.
