Just got an idea...

So, i see when people get head units on their mini, they typically put it in the secret compartment because you cant remove the stock one. BUT how about moving the stock unit into the secret compartment, and put the aftermarket head unit in place of the stock?

There is a company (in Japan?) that makes a kit to do exactly that. Don't know anyone who has bought it.

Yup! So remember to use your powers for good.

Now if you could only get someone in the US (or UK even) to build the same product.

The problem with doing that is that the Speedometer and the HEad unit are directly connected together.

As ran-o-matic said there is a company that make a kit to do this in Japan but the Kit is about $700 plus shipping which at my last check was over $400 for a total cost of $1100 just for the cable harnnes and plastics for the center console of the dash. It DOES NOT include a head unit or the labor to do the work.
