Making a new mount, need to know some things about the dash
Hey guys - my Mini is stashed in the parking garage right now and by the time I get home today it'll be too dark to really do any work toward this, so I figured I'd ask now - I'm looking into making myself a new GPS mount:
1. is there room between the top of the head unit and its surround (or, the dash itself, I can't tell if the HU has a separate surround or not) for a thin blade of fairly-stiff metal? are there any posts or screws that would impede such a piece?
2. would metal in this instance prove damaging electrically? should I use a different material?
3. different approach: what is the radius of the semi-circular dash "ledge" that follows the bottom half of the big central speedo/chrono pod?
Thanks!

Oh I realize that about the HU itself - I've actually had it out before. I mean along the top edge - I don't think there is anything on the HU itself, but wonder if there's anything along the "roof" of the DIN slot that would stop a blade of material from sliding between there.
