I think he wants the VoiceOver controls to play over the BT connection and use the MINI Microphone and not the iPhones. I thought this was suppose to be implemented in 3.1 but it doesn't work for me either.

I believe this will only work with a headset as there are different standards for headset and hands free (car).

I've been able to use the 3GS's voice command option to call people in my address book (holding down the home key on the iPhone) through Bluetooth.

However, when I try to play MUSIC via voice command (e.g. play songs by U2), the 3GS will say "playing songs by U2," BUT it will continue to play whatever I'm listening to at the moment.

Is this consistent with other people's experience?

Really??
But... do you have the OEM bluetooth or a NON-OEM hands free bluetooth?
and when you push the homekey the "voice" of the "iPhone's voice command" come out from the iPhone speaker o form CAR speaker?

I have the $500 iPod/BT option on my 2008 Clubman.

When I push the homekey, the audio that confirms my command (e.g. calling “Mom” or “Playing songs by U2”) comes through the iPhone speaker. However, when I’m speaking with Mom, it’s through the car’s speakers.

So for me, the calls using voice command work. But the music using voice command (even though it says it’s “playing songs by U2”), doesn’t work.

Ok.. It works like mine..
I'd like activate the iPhone voice command by pushing the MINI voice comm. and NOT the iPhone homekey..
And i'd like say "Mom" not to the iPhone mic but to the MINI Bluetooth mic..
And I'd like that the audio that confirms my command (e.g. calling “Mom”) comes through the MINI speaker and not from iPhone...

All this is already possible with a common in-ear bluetooth

true but i don't think the common bluetooth is as sophisticated as a MINI :P

you can't exactly drive your bluetooth to work... however i do agree that it should be possible to have iphone integrate into the MINIs voice key... i think the problem is that for MINI the voice key is a multifuction piece, used not only for phone but also for the radio and settings and Nav for those who have it... so integration isn't as easy as a bluetooth headset where it's only fuction is to communicate purely with the phone. i think there in lies the problem for full iphone integration...
