Alarm lights on tach?

Hello all,
We have an '09 MCS without the factory alarm. Does anyone know if the alarm lights on top of the tach are there even without the alarm installed? I'm thinking about installing some on a circuit with a switch so we have the appearance of having an alarm.

Thanks,
Michael

Every tach has the lights whether or not an alarm is installed, but it would be difficult to connect them to your own circuit. The lights are surface mount LED chips on the tach circuit board. There's enough room to add your own LED's if you wanted to.

There is plastic optics in front of the LED's that bends the light upwards.
