SIRIUS antenna mount under dash?

I have successfully installed Sirius radio antennae under the dash of two different Hondas and it has worked well. The signal was good and I didn't have the ugly antennna on the roof or the trouble of running and hiding wiring. I wondered if anyone on this forum has done the same on their Mini and if so, has any tips or thoughts on the matter. Much harder maneuvering under the dash of a Mini to get up high in the dash and just under the surface of the dash. Do I need to disassemble part of the dash to get up under there? I have a 2008 MCSC. TIA.

well.. i know when i had my antenna on the roof.. and it was covered by the thule storage box on the roof rack i had reception problems... so i wouldnt really do the antenna under the dash. but then again if it worked in the hondas.. maybe!?

i have the antenna running out the back of the car. it took me about 30 min to install. i just used a flathead screw driver to push the antenna wire behind the molding.. i didnt unscrew a thing!

here are some pics. i think its the perfect location.

kinda hard to see, but its right behind the factory antenna

and the inside.. i dont have any good pictures of the radio.. but you can see where i have it mounted.. the top driverside corner of the window.

Looks good, but I have the convertible, so that location wouldn't work for me.

Isn't the base of your stock antenna a sirius antenna?

Drop the glove box and you should be able to mount the antenna high enough in the dash to get good reception. I have one of my antennas mounted there above the vent. it helps if you know someone with small hands.
lol!!!!

Any instructions in the forum for dropping the glove box? I tried it when I installed my Dice unit and I could hardly get at the screws nearest the center of the dash...too deep. Is it supposed to be fairly simple? That seems like a reasonable approach, though.

I don't know. I have read some threads about mounting a Sirius antenna there, but I don't think the base is a sirius antenna per se. I think it can be mounted there.
