Also wanted to post some results for LG's ENV2 VX9100 phone. Just got my 2008 MCS. It's awesome! Regarding the phone's compatibility, it hooks up fine. Calls are answered with no problems, but the phone book doesn't upload. No big deal for me. I can call out through my phone and talk through the speaker so I'm happy.
When my wife sync'ed the phone w/her Outlook @ work, it pulled in all her work contacts; a few hundred numbers. When I mated the phone to the car today, the phonebook sync never succeeded. That's probably the case w/a lot of phones.
...just provided as an FYI for the archives.
Thanks, a lot of the BlackBerrys get mixed results with more than 1,000 contacts, so yeah- it's not uncommon. I'll add it to notes on this phone.
The LG LX165, sold by Virgin Mobile as the "FLARE" basic functionality, placing and receiving calls, works (08 MCSa with Convenience Bluetooth).
Still figuring out some things, such as taking the phone out of my pocket and putting it where the car can "see" it when I start out...

Anyone with address book transfer problems with a Nokia phone may be interested in this thread over on Mini2. It looks like the contacts download software that is linked to provides an address book service on the phone that's compatible with the MINIs expected address book format. People in the thread report that it works with the car for the N95 and the 6120, but may make other syncs (such as iCal) stop working.

Indeed.. its works great with my Nokia N95.
Also - it categorizes numbers.. unlike my Razr. So instead of just seeing the same name, it shows Work, Home, Mobile, etc..
Check it out!

I have a blackberry curve with At&T. It pairs up nicely but only syncs up some of the contacts in my address book. Has anyone had any problems like this? I am thinking that it has something to do with some special characters in the contacts that it doesn't like. Maybe the email address? I'll try to do some more trial and error experiments and post later.
Also, does the contact information stay in the computer even when I turn off the engine. I'm just concerned about leaving phone numbers out for anyone to see.

With my Razr, when it's not connected to the car, there are no numbers or names in the car's phone book.

Thanks Minidrivr. I'm just a little paraniod, I guess.

It's possible that you're doing something wrong- I couldn't find any reports of the K550i's compatibility, but the K580i's pretty similar and will connect (although there's other problems later...)
If you're still having problems, start up a new thread looking for help (the plan is to keep this thread as a report of known working or not working). Feel free to PM me with a link.
Anyone try a Palm Treo 680. I think only AT&T sells them. Sounds like the Palm Treos don't work but I haven't seen this one listed so I thought I'd ask. It syncs well with other Bluetooth devices including my Garmin Zumo.

I haven't seen any specific references to the 680, but I don't see any significant differences for the Bluetooth setup between them and the 700p's. Both running Bluetooth v1.2 and Palm OS 5.4.x. In case you hadn't seen it, the problem with them isn't that they don't sync, but after a certain amount of use the MINIs Bluetooth module locks up.
It doesn't seem like it would hurt to try once or twice, the risks with the 700p's come in after a significant number of syncs based on the reports I've seen. Of course, we don't really know what the exact problem is, and it doesn't sound like we'll get to find out.

Just an update to the sync problem that I was having. It was because of the bluetooth options on my blackberry. There was a filter in the address book transfer setting that prohibited some of the contacts from being transferred over. Now I can see all 280+ contacts!

Does anyone have experience with the BlackBerry 8110? My BlackBerry 7100 works (although it doesn't synch), but I am considering an upgrade.
Since it's an updated version of the 8100 Pearl, I'd imagine it would work. Checking my lists and again on NAM and Mini2 I didn't find any specific references for it or the other 2.0 versions (8120 & 8130) either.

Thanks. That's sort of what I thought, but I've learned that it never hurts to ask -- especially on NAM. This is one knowledgeable community.

I tried to search this thread, but didn't find the answer to my question.
Since MINI is owned by BMW, will the compatible BMW phones work with the MINI Bluetooth? I found the list of approved BMW phones at this link: http://www.wireless4bmw.com/phones2.html
There are 10 approved Verizon/BMW phones which is more than on the Verizon/MINI list which only lists 5 phones.
Some of the BMW phones are not on the master list in this thread (like the LG Venus, LG Voyager, LG VX8350), so I was curious. (Also because it expands the list of compatible phones that are available under my Verizon "new every two" years program.)
Thanks, and sorry if I missed the answer to my question in this thread.

Easy answer - No, Not all the phones on the BMW list will work with a Mini.
The real problem is with the firmware on the phone. Such as a LG Voyager with firmware LGVX10KV03 will work with a BMW and a Mini but at the current firmware versions LGVX10KV07 it will NOT work with either the BMW or the Mini.
I personally had a LG Voyager and with firmware LGVX10KV05 that would pair with my BMW with a very old bluetooth module in the car and i gave me dialing capability with the dash and steering wheel but not phone book and in my new Mini it would pair but dialing was flaky and no phone book transfer. Also the phone could not be programed back to the older firmware. When the phone was upgraded to firmware LBVX10KV07 it would pair but was intermitent at best with either car. Then I could not have it programed back to LGVX10KV05 either so i dumped it and went back to my old Motorola E815 which works perfectly with both my current cars.
Also note that the new voyager and env2 currently can only be purchased with the latest firmware unless bought off of e-bay and then i would want to check it before purchase.
I'm not the expert on this subject. I have my own problems with my phone's compatability with the Mini and I'm asking all the smart people here as well for help.
I can say that the 'BMW List' shows my phone listed, the Lg VX8700. The VX8700 is not listed on the MINI site. I too, was optimistic that since my phone was listed in the BMW site, that it would work OK with my Mini. But it's simply not the case. It works ok, but intermittently, and the phone book never synched, and you can't read the phone book. having said that, I did see a post within this thread that others got their phone book synched, but can't hear the phone in the audio system. So it's flaky at best.
So I would not conclude that if listed in the BMW site, that it would automatically be compatible with the MINI>
