Since I am only three hours away right now, I don't have any special plans other than to drive in a day or two ahead of time.
If anyone has any questions though, I can try to help.
Is there much talk about this over there? Do you think they'll really get 2000+ cars? Do you know a good place to stay in Misano? What do you imagine the weather will be like( I guess I can find that out but I thought I'd ask)? I'm thinking about camping just to see ...it might be fun and a better way to hang out with people.
I have not heard much, but most of the big MINI clubs are in Milan and Bologna. I am going to be at INMM05 in Belgium in 15 days, so I will be trying to talk it up there. Going to other car shows helps too, but I am waiting on a few other things to get done on the car before I hit them hard.
I don't know of a specific place to stay down there right now, but I am keeping my ears open. If a bunch of us NAMers want to get together, I can try and set up something where we all stay in one place. I will not be camping because I have a little one and it will be a little cool for her. There is not usually a bunch of rain that time of year, but it does cool down and the Adriatic Sea is right there. I believe it will be smart to have a light jacket for the night.
We have family summer house a few kms from Misano - Igea Marina- and I know the area very well. For 10 years this area was my home from June to Sept. I can talk with my aunt to see if accomodations at her place are an option (she has 5 fully furnished condos).
Couple friends of mine own hotels in the area, as well. Many hotels close after Sept. 15, as the season is over. I will make some calls with my local contacts and see what I can come up with. Knowing how many of us are going would help a great deal. .
Also, I personally contacted Fabrizio (some one posted something about his Hotel). His place is 3 kms from the race track and we will provide a shuttle for the non-motorized ones. He IS a MINI Fanatic himself (has a classic Mini and a new one on order) and I can explore with him a bit more.
I 'll keep you posted .

I can't wait ...

I'd be happy to help where I can. Let me know if there is anything I potential can find out for you or organize.
I have a collegue who is originally from Milan and she would be happy to help. I also spend all of my summer vacations in Italy when I was a bit younger, so have some insights myself.
There will be a larger group driving down to Misano from Germany. If anyone wants to fly into Frankfurt, Germany (which might be a bit cheaper then flying into Italy from the US), let me know.
My dealer has an Enterprise Rent-a-car station where you can rent MINIs.
From Frankfurt to Misano it's 620 miles.
I personally plan to drive from Frankfurt to Zurich Switzerland on day one (my girlfriend has friends there and the city is nice), then across the alpes on day two and to Milan or Como (Milano is beautiful!!) and then the last miles down to Misano on day three.
I was looking at the routes they have set up. I don't think we are going to go all the way up to Bolzano to drive down. Since they are going to post the entire route, I will look for something closer to us and just meet up when everyone is passing through. Let me know if anyone is coming through Austria!

Do you know how much your Mini dealer charges for rental?
Hi I'm Elisa (the Peppa for the friends),
I enjoyed the new Italian club dedicated to the mini, our site is under construction, but our forum is already active.
Our name is Megamini and we would very much like that you visit and register on our forum, we have created a section and a skin only for foreign friends at the Link http://www.megamini.it/forum/index.php?showforum=41 .
We will have the pleasure of meeting you at the October Mini United (I have seen that some of you are interested to come in Italy).
We will be of use to you in case you need information to organize your Holiday here with us….
We will be waiting for you!
The Peppa
After searching a while I found out that the Hotel Major in Cattolica is our best bet. The area is pretty dead after Sept. most of the Hotels (95%)close for the season.
I contacted Fabrizio (owner) who seams pretty nice... He has a classic MINI and one in transit. so understands MINI fanatics like us..
His prices are OK too 25.00 euros per person. w/ breakfast. We made our reservations last Friday and will be arriving on the 25th . (need a couple of days to shop in Riccione) NICE SHOPS there. He told me he had 20 rooms left for the week end. A group of Italians are going to stay at the same Hotel .
. Hope to see you guys there !!
We'll be nice to have an American Headquarters at the same Hotel..

It looks like the a large group from Greece (15 MINIs) is planning to stay at the same Hotel. What's the status of USA? how many people are going?
I hope we can have a MINI Groups Section at this event...

Hi, they booked the money off my credit card but no registration kit so far. Will let you know once is arrives.
I've also checked again with rental companies. Most of the rental companies don't have MINIs in their pool.
Those who have were all pretty unhelpfull. They can't guarantee you're going to get a MINI as you're going to book a class of car. So you might end up with a French or Asian brand car of the same size like the MINI.
Let's wait and see what MINI themselves come up with.
Came with a letter, voucher (for ticket, food and flashlight), 3 pins for your lanyard, a CD compilation of 10 music tracks from MINI International Magazine and a promotional video, a MINI UNITED 2005 window sticker and 3 MINI United body stickers. All in a folder that describes where to put all the items in your MINI.
