We have some great runs planned out as we were able to scout everything out last year during our Mock, so this should be a lot of fun and you'll get to see beautiful southern Utah. We're currently in the process of getting special hotel rates and since we'll be in Moab, we'll also have some special rates at one of the in-town campsites as well.
We have the following current runs planned out, and we'll have a possibility of an all day run, if there is interest. It will be a trip down to Lake Powell to hit the Ferry.
Run 1 - La Sal Mountain Loop - 3-4 hours
Run 2 - Colorado Riverway Scenic Byway - 1.5-2 hours
Run 3 - Dead Horse Point State Park - 2.5-3 hours
Run 4 - Arches National Park - 2 hours, possibly longer if you feel like short hikes to the actual Arch sites.
Run 5 - Island in the Sky - 3-4 hours
Run 6 - Needles Overlook - 3-4 hours
La Sal loop will be the most popular for the people who like the curves, but the others are breathtaking as well.
I am looking very forward to this event. It is going to be great. If you have never been to Moab take this opertunity to do it in stlye....MINI Style! The runs were great last year. I know you can't count on weather, but the weather last year was simply the best.

Since Moab is realatively close, I really want to go.

We really look forward to this. I talked to my wife about MUTA and she really wants to go. When we came through Utah 2 years ago Moab was just of the way. I look forward to this event.
What gorgeous scenery!! If I can recover enough financially from my excessive/impulsive spending at MOTD, I'd have enough vacation to go by then. I could even make a side trip through Amarillo and see family, then up through Santa Fe to show my daughter, just because I've been wanting to take her there. (Excellent place for more excessive/impulsive - brother diagnosed BTW )
What an excellent idea this is!! I want to be there, but only timely charge card payments will tell.

Moab is my absolute favorite place on the planet. Perpetually beautiful. If we can swing it, we're going to come from Manitoba, Canada....that's about 24 hours driving time away...but could be worth the trip! Hope to represent Canada at the UT meet!

Sad news.....MUTA is a no go for us this year...sob sob sob....My girl has to be back in Manitoba for school October 1st....I need to support her in this as it's pretty big. We're going to miss this year, but already putting in on our calendars for next year. Arches would be bigger for me than MOTD.

We have stayed in Moab with our dog before. We stayed at the Silver Sage Inn. There may be others that accept dogs also, but I know this one does for sure. Not the nicest, but it is adequate. I don't have the phone number off the top of my head, but you should be able to get it from directory assistance.
I'm planning on going for sure. I have trips planned for Denver, Lake Powell AZ, and Bandon Oregon starting in late August. But none in the Mini. Let's get this thing going on! We need party hotel names, stuff like that. There's a nice golf course there I played once, river daytrips, drives, Arches and Canyonlands national parks right there. Let's do this thing!

I've stayed at the Red Rock Inn before, an old but quaint place. Really close to the coolest bike shop in the world.
What's happening with this event anyway?

I love the Red Cliffs Lodge, but I can tell I'd never leave for Moab, so that's for another time. What's going on with this event anyway (I imagine our mods are partying it up at MITM this weekend so we'll have to wait til it's over probably)?

I've passed through the Moab area lots of times (I used to live a few hours away), but I've never stayed in any of the local motels. I'll go with whatever the planners decide. Speaking of which, I assume we'll get more details soon, after MITM, which, unfortunately, I was unable to attend. (That's why I'm really looking forward to the MUTA event.)
Well, we're here and having fun so far. We've done 2 runs to kick off the weekend and we're about to start our 3rd in about an hour. We did the La Sal Loop which ended up being a great run, and with 65-70 degree weather, you can't complain. We had a few more Mini's show up for a short 1:00 run to Potash. This is the run where we got the Yellow Tree picture that you see on the NAM calendar. That tree looked even better this year, just as yellow. So, Fall and Moab are a very good mix.
I just thought I'd let you all know that MUTA is happening and if you're not able to make it, you're missing out.
