Smile Prima Car Wash Station at MITM '09: Details

For those who are beginning to pack for MITM, I thought I'd let you know a little more about the car wash area...

The Prima/Detailers Paradise Wash Station is a Do-It-Yourself car wash area which includes some FREE supplies for your convenience. These free supplies include:
  • Wash Mitts (several to be shared among all participants)
  • Buckets
  • Prima Mystique Auto Wash car soap (provided in large concentrated jugs)
  • And of course... lots of water! (thanks to Copper Mountain Resort)
Although we will have some of our popular waffle-weave microfiber drying towels for sale on-site at our booth, this is otherwise a BOYT (Bring Your Own Towels) event.

I (along with baby Paia!) will be on-site at the car wash area Thursday, Friday & Saturday to help answer questions, assess paint condition, evaluate problem spots/questions, and to demo products such as:

Slick quick detail spray, Hydro wax-as-you-dry spray, Banana Gloss wax, Clarity glass cleaner, some of our microfiber!

**NOTE: The above products will also be available for you to use, should you not need a demonstration.

Finally, we will also have many of our Prima products and microfiber for sale at our booth, which will be located right at the car wash station. 99% of the items we will have for sale will be discounted for the event! (I will be posting more info about our retail booth as well as pre-order/pickup options soon!)

Of course, you can bring your own stash of car care goodies but I hope that our having the above items available for you to use or buy will be helpful.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

See you all soon!

-Heather

So maybe we ought to just have

the car show at the CAR WASH. Hmmm.....

But seriously, the car show has grown a bit in size so (watch the proper thread) we have decided to MOVE it to the VILLAGE at Copper (ie near and around BSP Burning Stones Plaza. Yes, a few hundred miles away but we have the logistics all worked out. Times will not change....

Great news! ...in two ways, as I see it!

Great to hear that there is such interest in participating in the car show that the original location will no longer work.

Then, great to hear that our fearless MITM organizers already have the backup plan in full gear. (not that I'm surprised! )

Is there any local who can bring a leaf blower to the car wash area? I would be happy to donate a few $$ as it will make drying the car very quick. This would be handy in the high elevation where the car dries really quickly and leaves water spots.

I don't think we'll have access to power at the car wash area. Last year, OctaneGuy brought a generator but I don't think he's bringing one this year.

Otherwise, a good idea... the Copper water is especially hard so getting the car dried quickly is very important! We'll just have to move our arms really fast! (and use lots of Hydro!!)

Kind of a fun question, really...

There are two choices here. Electric is not a good idea, since we are also dealing with water all over the place. And there is no building within 100 ft to plug in to.

Gas is another issue, since that involves fuel, a valuable piece of loaned equipment, and instructions on using the thing. I for one will not leave my power tool unattended nor am I willing to stay there and explain to everyone how to use it.

I have a suggestion which I think addresses the issue and avoids the issues. How about, when you are ready to dry, just asking the next guy for a hand? Then, in returning the favor, you can help him? Same thing with washing..it tends to dry quickly with suds on too. We are all friends here, we can handle it.

Will that work?

I agree that electric is not the way to go.

I was thinking gas. I use a gas leaf blower for drying my cars at home. It makes it a 5 minute job tops. Plus it blows the water out of all the grooves and cracks that you can not get out with a towel and then run out as soon as you move.

I do understand about letting just anyone borrow your power tools. I was thinking of say $5/ use fee to pay for it and the fuel.

You must live somewhere where things RUST...

Out here, we don't have that, mosquitoes or fleas. We don't worry about water in our cracks, and for that matter (now I am going to sound like Chuck) we don't worry about SAND in our cracks, either.

I like washing the MINI before 6:30 AM. The wash area is still shaded at that time, it is quite and it is usually all mine.
As Heather said the water is hard and will spot so use Hydro and a California blade and be quick about it. No chatting up the Red Bull girls when the MINI is still wet - get your priorities straight.
They can be distracting though.
