W00T! I finally got my car back from Schomp today. It's been in the shop since Aug. 2, when a seized vacuum pump destroyed the engine. I've got a new engine in there and the car is back in my hands.
I bought my MINI off of the showroom floor back in '07, so I never had the agonizing wait that most other MINI drivers have had to endure. Now, I know what the wait is like..... And I'm glad it's over!
The engine seems to run a bit quieter. I had a small rattle somewhere on the old engine, because it seems to be gone now. I thought that sound was just part of the engine, but either way, I like it the way it sounds now.
I'm in the break-in period, so I haven't stretched it's legs out yet, but it seems just as snappy as before. And after driving my Xterra for the last month, I forgot how sensitive the steering is in the MINI. It's like a getting a new car, all over again!
I'll check the paperwork for the tech's ID number, but I don't think it gives a name. Devon was my SA. He did a great job working with GE to get everything resolved and kept me update-to-date with changes.
I hope to make it on the next ride to Estes for pizza. I missed MITM, as my car died just a few day prior.
