MTTS: Indy

A lap around the brickyard will be cool. There was one scheduled for the F1 too. Anybody know of any other festivities planned for that night? Or the departure point for the next day?

The most detailed info that I have seen can be found here:
http://www.miniusa.com/mtts/pdf/MTTS_full_route.pdf

Thursday morning the departure point is south of the Circle and about a block east of the Slippery Noodle Inn.

I've not signed up for anything... Does anyone know if I can just show up, register at the track, and join in?

I have heard that you will need a wristband (2 were mailed to each person who registered) to participate in the events. Anyone can join in the caravan.

I suggest you just show up. They will probably just let you participate because you have a MINI or maybe some nice person will give you their spare wristband. (I'll be bringing my extra just for that purpose.)

From a good source I have been told that if you bring your MINI you can get in on the lap around the speedway.

Check out the forums on www.MINICCI.org for more information.

New Mini owner can join the caravan in Merrilville area?

My wife and I just got our Mini on the 12th of August. Another customer was picking up his new mini that same day and told us about the MTTS. We were too late to register, but we don't want to miss this huge event to get indoctrinated into the MINI culture.

Our plan is to leave Michigan and drive down to Merrilville. From there we will try to watch for the caravan coming from Chicago and join the pack to Indy. No armbands, but we understand that we can still get into the Speedway and participate without one (per the INDY club website).

Hope to meet some other MINI enthusiasts. We have the Cooper S model, Space Blue with Silver roof.
