MTTS Day 2 Route

A few of us are doing backroads ride to skip the clogged LA freeways. Leave Santa Barbara and go down 101 to 150 over to Ojai then up Highway 33 to Lockwood Valley Road and over to Fraizer Park. This is all twisty roads in the mountains. Then across Antelope Valley on 138 and up Highway 14 to Mojave and on Highway 58 to Boron to Barstow then up I15 to Las Vegas. We are leaving at 8 am from the starting point on the route sheet in down town Santa Barbara at Cabrillo and Garden.

Actually I know two faster ways if you are interested. I will be leaving from Palmdale area and checking posts here before I leave at 11am.

This is the less complicated version
Instead of getting off the 14 freeway at the 138 (a major city through fare with about a million lights and TONS of traffic!!) get off at Pearblossom Hwy (2 offramps before the 138) take that to the 138 and make a right, take that to the 18 then make a left onto the 395 (ignore the detour signs they take you a crappy way!) go to Airbase road and make a right go to the end National trails HWY and make a right that takes you right to the 15.

More complicated but nice open road leads to a nice open drive ;)

From the 14 freeway (see most of the above) get off at Ave M take M to the end and make a left (I want to say its 50th east) go to Ave J and make a right take that all the way to 240th street East make a right go to Ave P and make a left that goes a ways and then makes a curve continue on as it becomes Koala Road you can make a left onto Crippen (sucks a bit lots of stop signs) or continue to the end (can't remember the street name) and make a left, either way takes you to the 395 from Crippen you go Right onto the 395 or you can go the other way and go right onto the 395. Then you go to Airbase Road (left for crippen right other way) this road is nice 4 lanes 60MPH even and nice. Take this to the end to National Trails Highway make a right that takes you right to the 15.

Both of these routes are much more direct. I will see you guys on the road!!!

Though at this right I am never finding a bracelet so might not be as in as I hoped I might be :(

Thanks for the tips tankgirl. We are getting on 14 at 138 as we are coming east from Lebec. I agree that 138 going east could be a mess. We are going up to Mojave and talking Highway 58 which should be empty. I will check out your roads though. Also I have an extra wristband. I sent you am IM about how to contact me.
