Alternate route leg three, Route 66 in AZ

For those of you that are interested in driving on the longest continuous stretch of Route 66 in the nation you might want to start your drive by stopping by the Powerhouse Visitor Center in Kingman, AZ. http://www.kingmantourism.org/to-do-...ors-center.php

This building is home of the Route 66 museum of Arizona and also the Route 66 Association of Arizona. Spend some time browsing the museum and learning of the history of the "Mainstreet of America" Here you'll find a special reading room that has many photo albums and information about the history of America's most famous highway.

When you leave the Visitor Center you already on Route 66... so enjoy the drive and be sure to stop at the few historic places which offer many photo opts.

By lunch time you'll find yourself in Seligman so stop by the Roadkill Cafe or the famous Snow Cap drive in.

Update on Route 66 Museum:

The Dynamic MiNi Collective of Arizona has secured a discount for admission to the Route 66 Museum in Kingman, AZ, at the Powerhouse Visitor Center. The normal admission is $4 per person. All MTTS participants can tour the museum for just $1 per person. Just show them your MTTS wrist band.

So, whether your driving down I-40, doing the "Terror" or traveling back in time down Route 66, take an hour and tour the museum, you won't be sorry.

Hours for the museum are 9am-6pm daily. The Visitor Center is located about a half mile from the US 93 to I-40 Freeway to Flagstaff.
