Hi All:
I read this morning where the annual Nascar souvenir blowout will take place on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I was told that if you buy $50 worth of merchandise or make a $25 donation to Speedway Children's Charities, you will have the opportunity to do three laps around the track. This sounds like a blast! Think this might be a fun club gathering? What do y'all think?
Since I have no plans for that day this could be fun. I am guessing it will be a parade lap. Can you give them a call and find out the details. I am buried in emails for Helen. I'll put this post as a sticky.
Just called the Speedway, the 3 laps are behind a "pace car". The cars will go out 20 at a time. I believe the $50 of merchandise is from their store. For each $50 you spend or $25 you donate you get 3 laps. How cool would it be to get 20 MINIs on track for some pic's. Here is the link:
After some checking, the above info is correct. The souvenir sale is from 8am-6pm, Friday 11/27. The purchases can be from the gift shop or the sales trailers in the parking lot. Would we as a club like to meet at a certain time and try to all get on the track together? What does everyone think? Sounds like an awesome time!
I know I can make it. Maybe we could meet for breakfast at 9 or 10. Give people a chance to wake up. Don't know the area so any suggestions would be great.
Might be hard to get 20 of us together being the day after thanksgiving, but sounds like fun to me.
You have to stay behind the Pace Car but he is going around 70-80. If you let him get ahead of you, then you have a little room to speed up. I heard a few people got taken off just for being dangerous, but you can have alot of fun.
