Free LAX parking

I read on the TESLA website that LAX allows free parking for ZEV cars. Anybody know where this is allowed or any other details?

Yes indeed!

Just confirmed by calling the parking folks at LAX (310) 646-9070 that you can park for up to 30 days in either Lot 1 or Lot 6 for free. Upon exiting, just tell the cashier you're driving a 100% electric vehicle and if they have any issues to call the Manager on Duty who will confirm.

It's by the metered parking in front of terminal 1. There's chargers there, probably no MINI-E compatible plugs though. Don't get a ticket as the MINI-E has no labeling that it is electric or a ZEV.

110? maybe. High-voltage charging is vehicle type specific at public sites. MINI-E program relies on home charging only. All others charge for free at LAX.
But you can park for free.

Drove my MINI E to LAX for a week vacation. While I missed driving my MINI E, I was pretty happy that I was able to park in Lot 1 for free. Normal "charge" is thirty dollars per day. Kiosk workers were very nice and I left them a MINI E info card that MINI USA had given everybody.

I was unable to charge while I was parked. No 110v outlets and needless to say no MINI E 220v boxes. My roundtrip mileage on one charge was 108 miles of mostly freeway driving, Laguna Beach to LAX and back. On the return, I was at zero charge at the top of Newport Coast, but used regen braking on the downhill to highway 1 and had a 5 percent charge at the bottom of the hill.

Battery seems to have a little extra charge left when it reads zero.

Parking at LAX

Hi Greg...do you have the EV Parking Decal? Did they ask for any paperwork or anything special? I know we can park in garage 1 or garage 6. Once in the garage where did you find the EV parking? Do you recall how many spaces there were? Will be heading to LAX myself next month. Many Thanks!

The dozen or so EV parking spots at Lot 1 are outside on the east side of the parking structure. When leaving I handed the kiosk workers my factory sticker and was asked for a phone number. I did not have an ev parking sticker. The checkout process took about 5 extra minutes for them to write down my phone and VIN number.
