After a couple of days with the MINI I am torn between wanting to take it everywhere, and knowing that with only the 110v cable there is a price to pay. So far I have not charged it past 75% and I definitely get the impression that the range indicator display is more accurate with a greater charge. Today I left for an errand that was about a 25 mile roundtrip. When I left I had 65 miles remaining, by the time I got home there was only 26 and the indicator can be a bit volatile, occasionally going up or down two or three miles at a time. I'm going to try to keep my hands off it the rest of the day so I am ready for the workweek tomorrow!
I think of it as Charging Anxiety, I'm fine with the Range, its knowing that I'll have to wait 20+ hours to charge back up that keeps me from driving it as much as I'd like.
Rest Days are going to have to be a fact of life with a 110v charger.
Robert, you are quite correct, I was using the industry term but the anxiety is really knowing it's going to be a long time before you can get back behind the wheel because charging is so slow. I haven't driven far enough from home yet to have true range anxiety Today I was able to find a parking space at work near an outlet (you can see it isn't a popular area to park in) so that makes me feel better.
Interesting... mine is from Clipper Creek and the indicator panel actually looks much more like the charging box. Don't know if it is just cosmetically different or functionally different.
