Thanks Paul, They are all 1/36th scale and I picked mine up on the UK side of eBay. There are 3 currently listed and also the older version with the checkerboard roof.

Why do I see a scalextric mod in the works

Jack, again repeating to himself: "I do not collect Classics, I do not collect Classics..."

Smokey, I am humbled by your collection. It should have been you in MC2 for that story.

Just got my Lightning Blue Cabrio 1/18 die cast from email.
It looks great on my desk and reminds me how much I enjoy my Cooper S.

By the way, I applied for a credit card from MINIUSA Financial and the card is imprinted with a picture of your MINI car right down to the style of alloys, color, body style, color of stripes, etc. Just got it and it looks really cool.
It has 6 mo. 0% financing also. Tirerack here I come.

Birdman,

I think any R56 models are rare to be found since it's new. I think the only ones I've seen are the ones you can get from the dealer, but not sure if they have it in DS?

Actually, they do have the R56 in DS/W in 1:18 scale. Best to use the link from Motoringfile to get their discount with Morristown Mini. Those things are expensive.

Here's another look at the dealership version.

Oh and it's in DS too

Darmog is right they are expensive around $65 or at least that's what the JCW version I picked up a few years ago ran.

A few words of caution though, They're addicting

I bought this one from the UK back in 02.

It's what started me down the expressway to status as "that guy with all the toy cars"

BTW, that was the only place I could find a DS/B with sliding sunroof and the x-lite wheels. Which at the time matched my car

Good luck with the search

Thanks ALL.... will shop around again. When I started looking a month or 2 ago, there were no DS's. Looks like they made one.

Smokey, THAT is AWSOME!!!! That one looks exactly like mine. Same wheels, lots of chrome.... I love it. Wish it were an R56, I'd give ya $1000 for it!!

Ok. Finally did some photo cropping from my trip home.
Here is the MINI/Mini stuff I brought home. Can't see the pile of classic Mini parts in this pic.

Ok...the cars I have spares of are these. The 1st group are next to a standard US Diet Coke can for size comparisons.

Here are some more details.
The little red one is from Aussie dealerships and cost me $5 each. I have 4 spares. It has a pull-back motor and the round thing on the bottom of the car is a magnet. This car will drive around on a white board or a fridge.

This one is only available at the Cadbury chocolate factory in Tasmania. I paid $20 each for them and have 4 spares. I don't think it has a motor in it.

This one is a Corgi done up as a New South Wales Police car. It is a Cooper S and a fairly accurate replica of a silver MCS that the NSW cops were using for promo purposes a couple of years ago. NSW is my home state.
I paid $15 for this and have 1 spare.

PM me if you want any of these. I'll take cash for them, but would prefer to trade for MINIs or Minis that I don't already have. Still looking for a Super Chrome from Target.

Would I get better milage if I had less fun?

Are there any more of you guys that are interested in these Minis I brought back from Aus? If not, I'm going to start throwing stuff up on eBay.

I'm in Toronto on a business trip, and I made it a point to hunt for MINIs while here. I found a great store outside of town and they had a lot of nice stuff. They had some AutoArt 1:18 Cooper S cabrios but only in red and silver, so I passed on those. They also had some 1:43 R56 AutoArt Coopers and S's in Pure Silver, Sparkling Silver and Lightning Blue. Those were $40 each Canadian.

Anyway, I did get a few things:

Schuco Junior Line 1:72 Cooper with Swiss Cross

Carrera Go! 1:43 Cooper

AutoArt 1:64 Silver/Black Cooper (I have an extra if someone wants it)

MiniChamps 1:43 metallic orange MINI One with Aero Kit and driving lights, one of 1008 made

I also went to the local MINI dealership which was a few blocks from my hotel. They had the usual stuff there but they did give me a bottle of MINI water:
