My wife owns a BMW convertible 325 Maisto 1/32 diecast car and the convertible works (albeit by hand). Anyone ever hear of a diecast Mini Cabrio where the top goes up/down?

There used to be a 1/12 model sold at the dealers (or from Kyosho in different colors) that the top functioned(by hand). Last time I priced one from the dealer was around $300. The 1/18 version has interchangeable tops one up & one down.

According to the Kyosho website... they list only 3 Cooper Cabrios (gold, purple, red) all are non S.... I've been looking for a green cabrio, but haven't found one yet...
The ones sold at the dealers were different colors than the ones sold by Kyosho. I know they had Hot Orange and Cool Blue, but I can't find my catalog to see if there were other colors(I don't think there were).

Perhaps theres hope. If you go to the 1/12 scale Cabrio page here, the caption under the main photo says: The new generation MINI offers a variety of models. The latest addition is the Convertible. Just like the closed MINI, 3 variations exists: ONE, COOPER and COOPER S.
Don't know what ONE is, but the mention of Cooper S is positive. No to find someone selling one....

I've got Hot Orange cabrio models in 1/43, 1/24, 1/18, and an RC 1/12. I told my wife I wanted the 1/12 die cast and got "the look". Dropped that idea REAL fast.
I'm still holding out hope of finding one at a much better price.

hey MDM... they have a Gold MCC on ebay for 59.99 (buy it now)... it 's listed as 1/18 scale while the Kyosho website states they are 1/12 scale... they must be the same right??? that's the only cabrio I saw, unless you go to the UK...
post up if you're going to get that one... I might be interested in that one... in the meantime, I'll check yahoo/google for retailers...

They're not the same. The 1/18 models have interchangeable tops(at least the one sold by MINI dealers does-the eBay listing doesn't say if it does or not). The top doesn't actually open or close like it does on the 1/12 versions. Kyosho made both 1/18 and 1/12 scales.
They're still really nice models, though.

The statement is ambiguous on that page. I think it is merely describing MINI cabrio the car, not their model.
Even allowing for the currency conversion, that's not a bad price. It's still a bit high for me right now, though.

Ya, I saw it once Mishka steered me in the right direction.

If you do a search for completed items, the $170 is to much. Looks like you can buy them for around $60, which is a lot closer to my budget. To bad they never made them in PW.
Now that I know what to look for, it's only a matter of time.....

I didn't do a completed auction search, I was just basing it on the retail of new 1/12 cars. The 1/18 generally retail for $60. May have to do a little more searching.
Edit: all the completed listings I saw for ~$60 were 1/18. The one 1/12 I saw went for ~$120. Did you find others? If so, where? I'm getting back in the die cast model collecting mode again.

Your right, I was confused by the interchangable roof, as opposed to the working roof. I just saw the pic with the roof up, and misunderstood. Still, $120 is better than $170 for the one completed as opposed to the one for sale. So, do you think this one has the interchangable roof even though it's not listed?

that was the gold MCC I was referring to in an earlier post. that one is the 1/18.. non-retractable roof.
