Once again the USGP will be a great place to bring out your MINI and motor with MINICCI.
Like last year, on Saturday June 16th at 4:30pm there will be a police escort through Indianapolis for just MINI and Mini Coopers. This link is for registering for the event http://2007usgpcca.theregistrationsystem.com/, you do not need to be going to the USGP on Sunday for the drive, so come out just for the drive.
Immediately following the drive we will be heading north to Dreyer & Reinbold MINI dealer for the annual USGP cookout. Again, this is open to all MINI folks, so come on out even if you don't plan on going to the race Sunday.
Sunday June 17th is the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis. If you have tickets (and plan on driving your MINI) you can park for free in the Car Corral on the back stretch of the track. The above link will also allow you to register for the escort into the track on Sunday. The unofficial MINI meeting time is 7:30am, but I know a number of other people are opting to sleep-in and doing the 8:30. You also need a Car Corral pass, if you need help getting one, or not sure how, send me a pm.
Will there be an opportunity for everyone to drive around the track?
Haven't seen anything concrete on that one yet. Rumor is the drive this year will be on Thursday durring the open pit day. If I do get an exact date, I will post it.
Nice! see you there - No GP for me this weekend, I have to work too much and therefore flying out from CT - unless I quit the job......hang on......
I'll get back to you on that one..............

Well, although quiting the old job to motor to the F1 might sound like a good idea, I am thinking it might not actually be .
In any event, let me know if you still want to go on the drive Saturday night, or into the track on Sunday, I am sure we will have have extra space in our MINI if you want to ride along.
I'm confused. Will there be a chance to drive ON the track? If so count me in and let me know ASAP.

I just spoke with the ticket office at IMS, and they said due to the short schedule currently there are not any plans to allow people to drive the track this year. This of course may change, but it's not looking good at this point.

It looks like the Indiana British Car Union will have a track lap as part of their British Car Days Rally in late September. It's the oval, not the GP course but still is fun. http://www.geocities.com/indybritish...ibmd_2007.html
Then again there's always MTTS II or at least we can hope.

I had to have the ticketing office send me a mirror pass.

I signed up for the car corral for the 16&17. Should I have gotten the pass to hang from my mirror in the mail, or do the yellow shirts have a list?
And if you do go to pick up the pass in person (the ticket office is at the corner of 16th and Georgetown), go Saturday. Come Sunday morning, getting to that corner in a car, even a MINI, is next to impossible with out a pass .
Looks like I'll be able to make the events this weekend. Hope to see everyone there. Oh and if your from out of town and want to save shipping on parts just let me know, I'll bring the stuff with me.
Just wanted to say thanks to eveyone that my wife and I met down there on that Saturday. The run from the zoo to the dealership was too much fun (thanks Way)! Here are some photo's my wife took (we're still learning the camera, so they might be a bit off...)
