Close up pic tips

I wanted to take a close up pic of the Cooper S badge and the surrounding sheet metal as my wallpaper on my computer. So I cleaned up the area around the hatch and got out the camera. Then I realized as I was looking through the screen that I'm in the reflection . Hmmm.....that's not gonna work. Any tips on how to get a shot with no reflection?

I'm thinking a tripod and setting the timer on the camera would be in order. Should I park in front of a wall or something?

Try positioning yourself with the camera below the badge so your reflection isn't in it. Another trick is to take a piece of foam board, cut a hole in the middle that the lens will fit through and shoot; the reflection of the white board is non-descript and the lens hole will be virtually invisible. Using a tripod and remote or timer is best IMHO, but you still have to shoot from an angle (below, left or right) so the camera isn't in the reflection. The nice thing about digital is that you can see right away what works and what doesn't. Good luck, and post your results!!!

De-Badge it

Angling will get you out of it.

Controling you lighting enviroment will help.

A CP can turn this

into this

Which will help but not eliminate reflections

The foam core in addition to a CP might be the best option, also try and shoot in some softer light to minimize the reflections.

See you souldn't listen to the nuts in detailing 101 or you end up in all your photos lol

Dress nice and don't forget to smile!
