No Options, All the fun
1 the foucs is not where my eye is drawn so it has that slow read effect to it, as I look for what is sharp, interesting witht hte red lighting though; 2 feels blah, I think that the motion effect like that is better when you have the fous in the car and use the motion as a background, if you take a look at Speednuts 1st post in the MINIs in Motion thread you'll see what I mean; 3 I'm not a huge fan of tilt for the sake of tilt though I've done it to crop out poor backgrounds, but my buggest pet-peeve is the un-natural cropping of front half of the MINI my eye os first drawn to the driver mirror cap (center first then down to the passenger head lamp then starts looking for the fronmt of the car, then eventually notices some nice cloud reflections on the bonnet. Just because its a P&S doesn't mean you can't get good shots you just need to approach it a little differently.
1 if the camera has a macro funtion I'd see if I could get it to focus on the needle and lower it a little so the ring of the speedo wasn't chopped up as much. 3 seems like a good location at a good time of day and it just needs a little framing play and you'd have some truly stand out grab my eye and ow me results.
Hope you dodn't mind the C&C, but I saw this had a lot of views and no responses yet so I htought I'd offer my .02. Thanks for shaing I know getting used to new/different equipment can be a pain sometimes as well.
Thanks for your opinion motor on. I was very limited with things I could do using a point and shoot camera, cant wait until I can save up enough money to buy an SLR digital, but I have trouble finding money to put gas in my Mini to get haome sometimes, so I think dropping $800 on a camera isnt gonna happen anytime soon, I love my 35 mm SLR but I dont trust other fools to develope my film and Prints, and being a student time is an issue so that out the widow too. I hate no being able to do the things I love due to money. But I am an Art major so I will be doing things like this for a living

I'm no expert by any stretch, but I like the perspective in the speedo shot. Also love the background in #3; maybe play around in that area a little more?

Take a look at 89AKurt and Speednuts photos, all of kurts and a portion of Speednuts are from Point and shoot cameras. Yes you can be limited for some techniques but some creativity an yeild some really interesting shots as well, so I hope you aren't discouraged and do keep trying and experimenting with it.
As a student myself I definately understand the $$ side of it as well, I got my DSLR long before I had a car payment gas and ins. to worry about; and its probably about the only way I could have afforded to do it.
