I've noticed quite a few people here are figuring out ways to get photos of their Mini in motion. There are plenty of others here who are great at taking photos of cars at the race track. I'd like to kick off a thread where people can post dynamic photos of a Mini and also discussion of how to create a motion photo.
I'll start with photos from a Maverick MINIs run. If you're in the S.F. Bay Area, you've got to join us on a run!
Example of my freaky orangutang arm triggering a cable release (forgot to turn the self timer back on ):
Fine print: Speed limits were observed! Motion in these photos is due to 1/2 second or longer shutter speeds. Aperature priority mode set to f/16 and used a fisheye lens. A 1" boxed steel rod with rubber end caps was bolted to the rear seat mount hooks. Tripod head was bolted in center of steel bar. ~$15 material cost from OSH. YMMV

Thanks. I was thinking of starting a thread of my own— MINI MOTION: Camera Mounts, Rigs, & DIY—a place for discussion rather than a repository for images. You beat me to it with a hybrid

That's basically how I do that shot. If you have a rear strut brace you can use a Super Clamp to attach a head to the bar. It's important to rigidly lock the camera to the car, rather than isolate it.

It was a very humid ~30ish degrees last night too when I was experimenting; could the temp outside bugger the grip up?
I brush the area with an egg wash.......—J/K—
I wipe with a microfiber & attach the cups dry, then use speed detailer after I'm finished. Glass is always best, but it's not always interesting.

Glad I looked at this before I headed out. Got some H/D nylon cord to use as a "Security Blanket", too. Think I'll take the MB-200 Grip off the camera ,too.
Off to play!!

OK... I get to the road I want to shoot on. Stick on the mount and rig up the safety cord. Reach in to my bag for the remote release and JUST THEN realize that it's sitting on my desk back home!! D'OH!!!
Take 2 tomorrow.
