WOW! I am in complete shock. I submitted one of my photos of my MINI to a Monthly photo contest that I found through Google. I did this like two months ago, and kind of forgot about it. Well...yesterday, a big package came in the mail, and I found out I got first place for the month of October! Along with it was a $500 check!

Now I have to decide what camera gear to buy with the money...or maybe I should try and save it for once

I was talking more in terms of new lenses and stuff like that (lights, filters). The camera body is only the beginning!

The monochrome aspect really made the picture with really great composition!

My wife won a photo contest in a national magazine so I know how your feeling.

Actually...it was more a big envelope, rather than a package.

But, on top of the $500, I also won a $30 gift certificate from www.redriverpaper.com as well an iCorrect Potrat Photoshop Plugin ($99.95 value) from www.pictocolor.com .

So excited!

No kidding! In my opinion, A lot of th pictures in the Top 10 are A LOT better then mine. Maybe the judges drive a MINI or something

That $500 could be a nice down payment on a carl zeiss lens...what type of camera did you use?

Thanks! I used a Canon Digital RebelXT with Canon Ultrasonic 28-135mm lens.

As a student...I have been thinking a lot about how I am spending my money lately, and I decided to just put the majority of the money in savings. Maybe help me pay for a house, or something when I am older

Excellent picture AND outstanding quality competition. I took a look at all of the monthly winners. Incredible.

It's tough to be a judge. You deserved the win.
