First time to West Virginia...
First time on a Racetrack...
First time having a real instructor drive along with me...
First driving video!
Go easy on me. First time using the CruiseCam mount, and I've already learned a few things. For one, spend more time tightening down the camera mount. Don't know if there's a trick to it, but 5 minutes wasn't enough time to squeeze my fingers in the little space to try and tighten the camera to the mount... Also roll up the windows to better here the engine and/or conversations...
So the video is from the Mini of Towson (Baltimore) sponsored Mini Mania 2 event, where they contracted an advanced driving school (BSR I believe) to host a full day of instruction & track driving to enhance our civilian skills, at the Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, West Virginia.
Morning consisted of 3 exercises (braking, slalom, skidpad), then a run on the track, then a run with your assigned instructor in 'their' car, a 'track walk', and then a final run around the track with all of your new information and knowledge. This 15 minute clip is of that final run: http://www.mappage.net/video/Summit_Point.wmv
Great video man, it was almost like a good instructional video for people like me who want to drive autox but don't know how

Can you describe your car? Any mods besides the air intake?

My only performance mod is the alta intake, though I do have a few aesthetic & commute-friendly mods... A list of all mods so far can be seen on my MiniUSA Resume (since NAM has profiles turned off), and I have most of the bigger mods in my gallery, which is the hyperlink in my sig.

Hehe, thanks. I was trying to conserve the 1 hour tape, as I only brought 1... But I did manage to get the skidpad exercise, and a couple of my braking runs. Will be posting those tomorrow probably, after seeing how bad this video damages my monthly bandwith transfer limit.

I hope you didn't type this in chronological order 'cause the post-run track walk seems kinda after the fact.

Nope, that's the way it was. Wagnbat and I were running in the same group that day. There were 3 groups, for a total of about 40 cars or so. Not sure why they organized it that way, but they did.
Yeah, I thought the trackwalk should have been in the morning as well, but I guess they wanted to emphasize the line after you'd already had a taste, and the trackwalk showed a few people what they were doing wrong, so they could fix it in the afternoon run.
Like I said on the video to the instructor, it was rough in the morning running the track, because they hadn't covered the track itself, and we didn't know were all the turns were and how to take them.
222 is my lucky number. Has since about '92 when I used to go by 'Bac', which translated to 222 on when dialing alpha-numerics into pagers. Also the origin of 'Bacinator', which was on the jersey I was wearing for the Mini Mania event.
