New found Hobby

Ok, here are a few of my first attempts. Don't flame me because it's not a Mini... hopefully by the 1st of next year it will be. I used a Cannon EOS rebel Ti. Right off, I know I need a tripod.I'm going to get one Friday. They are vary blurry, but that can be fixed with a tripodright?Any thoughts?.

BTW- Thanks again, I came to this site to check out the Mini, and found a new hobby.Me and my daughter had so much fun...Thanks again.

Looks pretty good for a first attempt slomo. I can't help you much, I'm still trying to get some good ones of my MINI. I can't seem to do it justice like some others on NAM.

I think you have a pretty good eye tho, I like the composition of your shots. Very interesting!

slomo,

Welcome to NAM. Also, welcome to the photo/video forum and to photography.

No worries about not having a MINI. We were all MINIless at some point.

I put together a list of suggestions in another thread a while back for making better MINI photographs. As you have already suggested, a tripod (even a cheap one from Target) would be helpful, especially for night photography where the shutter wants to stay open longer. There are some other suggestions in that link.

There is something about the third photo with your daughter that I like. I can't quite put my finger on it though. The fourth one has a nice low perspective that works well too.

I would recommend posting photos and asking questions as a good way to improve and learn about photography. The more photos you take the more chances you have for success. Please continue to post more of your photography.

Again, welcome.

Dave

Thanks, found a tripod at wal-mart, that went from 9" to 41". It's a little travel deal, but it's the only one I could find that went down that low. I'm going to pick it up friday. Once I get the tripod I think we are going to go back and re-shot some of these. I burnt up a hole role of film that day, but it was fun. My daughter has asked me every day if we where going to go take pictures again to day. Then get's real upset when I tell he no not today.
Speaking of film. With that roll of film I just got the CD at Wallgreens. Where Is the best place to get the film turned to a CD? I first went to Wall-mart(that's when I spotted the tripod) , but the printer was down. Wallgreens was ok but every picture was up side down. Was it something I did loading the camera?(I don't think so) or did they screw up ? Also what Photoshop program would be a good what to get
Yea I read that, but i guess I should have read it again.I did use some of your tips, and thay helped. My favorit one was.

Be careful of the background - I have seen a couple of photoshoots done by fairly experienced photographers, where they shot car pictures in a construction site. The background looked great, except in both cases they shot a picture with a bright blue porta potty reflecting off the car door.
I drive a truck and deliver construction equipment all day. I never thought about all the cool backdrops a construction site have to offer. Now I catch my self looking for spots to take pictures as I am passing through them, and not looking for the customer that has been trying to wave me down since I entered the job site. As a matter a fact as I am driving all over the state I catch my self going "Oh there's a cool spot, oh there's one" Hopefully one day I will make it to each and every one.

Awesome. That's the best thing I've read all day.

For photoshop I would get Photoshop Elements (runs about $80-$100), unless you can get a discount as a student somehow, Photoshop CS is really expensive ($649 at full retail, and around $280 for students).

For film processing I have heard very good things about Costco, but I think this may be one of those areas where you're going to have to find out on your own where to process locally. I wish I could be more help, but I haven't developed film in a while.

I really like #3. Whereas the others you probably don't want the blur, it adds to this photo..background is blurred but the subject isn't. Great shot.
Keep experimenting, keep taking photos. It's always a fun learning processes.
I also had a Focus. A MINI was the natural next step.

I am not surprised there are some other people from "The Jet" on here,Cool. Nice Focus nicer Mini. I was debating between a black on silver or white on blue. Now I'm thinking of white and black...thanks. It's going to be sometime after the new year before I get mine.I need to get my youngest out of the car seat she's in,and into a booster. I don't think the one she has now will fit. Plus I need time to get other things in line. So I will change my mind a hundred times by then.
Thanks for the comments.I picked up a tripod today and if the weather hold and I can find the time I'm going to try some more tomorrow.

Here's one I really screwed up, but added a funny look to it.
Rule #1 don't move the camera till after the shutter closes.

With the silver roof becoming an option with 06 models, you can do black & sliver the right way.
I still have some old FJ video to digitize and surprise them with...

Now I see how you blurred the background and not the foreground: a flash. I like the effect.
