It's cool. I've been guilty of them too. I still am occasionally.
Congrats on the dReb. That's a big step up from the P&S's and you now get to start using a lot of nice Canon glass. I gather you have the kit lens and that's it right now. If you're on a budget, I'd get the 70-200 F/4 L as a very nice telephoto. IMO, it's one of the lens offerings that Nikon sorely needs to bring to market (the other being a 400mm F/4).
Nice car! I really like the wheels and the exhaust looks just mean enough.
Not everyone likes pitched shots but I tend to try shot tilting the camera so that an edge of the photo will be parallel to a hard edge in the photo. Its not necesarrily always the subject of my photo, maybe its the curb or a wall or something else linear. A lousy example:
I also tend to like a lot of negative space when shooting small cars. I think it emphasizes the size of the car more when there is a lot of background. Example:
So I'm definately not a professional, and Im not even sure I like either of those pictures above but thats all I have available to convey the points I was trying to make! Just sharing some things I think about when taking pictures.
Nice MC!! Hmm, for some reason I thought you had a CR. The Digital Rebel is capable of a lot! Learn it well, and you'll be doing great photography with it as well!!!
The technology will help you get there, but it's all about the person behind the camera!

Thanks Richard! Yeah, I definitely have a lot to learn with this camera and with photography in general. I'm still reading through the manual for the thing!
