Road Trip Pix: Old Town Albuquerque, NM | Northern Arizona

Last Tuesday, March 29, I flew to Chicago to bring back a '96 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. My 2300-mile road trip began the next morning.
Obviously, I had to take cameras with me but traveling light was just as important. Therefore, I took a small russian film camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5400, and my phone. (The phonecam made it quite easy to keep a daily weblog of my travels.)
The resulting journey took me through seven states, often paralleling the Mother Road. I stopped at some usual tourist destinations such as St. Louis's Gateway Arch and the Grand Canyon.

One often-overlooked destination I had prioritized was Albuquerque's Old Town. (It just so happened that's where I finally saw a MINI- an IB/W Cooper with white bonnet stripes.) This was my second visit to this historic district so my photo eye gravitated toward images I hadn't explored originally. Below are four snapshots/photographs (you decide) from the few hours spent there.

Outstanding work, Juan! I LOVE Old Town Albuquerque! It's a really unheralded jewel of the Southwest. Love the color and compositions of your pix, as usual!

BTW, I'll be in Albuquerque on Saturday! YAY!

JMO:
  1. Needs a MINI in it for that perspective.
  2. Is my favorite.
  3. I like a lot. The dripping sap-cicles are awesome.
  4. I wish the water bucket wasn't quite to underexposed/hidden in the shadows.

Glad you liked Albuquerque. If any of you guys pass through in your Minis let me know and we'll go motoring for a while. We have some twisties right on the other side of the mountain.

Actually the more I look at the last one the more it's growing on me with the contrast between the hot chillis in the sun and the cool bucket of water in the shade.

Oooh, someone comes to my defense!

My learning curve is more like 180. Just look, I purposefully set the WB to "Incandescent" for the sake of curiousity in this scene.

Only after snapping it in this setting . . .

I even went and underexposed this window shot 'cause it seemed like it'd help the colors a bit. (ended up framing it a little off center )

I loved New Mexico. If not for the reports of I-25 being closed around Santa Fe, I would've gone and spent the night there. It seems like there are pics for the picking everywhere! (no matter the time of day)

Hopefully I'll head out there again soon.

Here's an old church from same location.

Another view of same church . . .
